01 — Getting started
Pick a country, then a station: playback starts and the transcript writes itself, sentence after sentence, time-stamped. On first launch iOS asks for speech recognition permission — it is used only to transcribe on your iPhone; nothing is sent to Apple or anyone. If you declined it: iOS Settings › Radio Live › Speech Recognition.
The transcript follows the live feed. Scroll back to re-read: the live feed waits, and the “Back to live” button takes you there in one tap.
02 — Languages and “listen only”
Recognition uses the iOS language models. If a station's language isn't installed on your iPhone, the app tells you and offers the closest language you have (for instance fr-FR for a Belgian station). To install a language: iOS Settings › General › Keyboard › Dictation, then add the language.
Some languages have no model on iOS (Polish, Greek, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Romanian, Croatian, Ukrainian). Those stations are marked “listen only”: you hear them, without text.
03 — Silent mode and pause
Silent mode (speaker icon): the sound is off, transcription continues. That's the mode for reading without disturbing anyone — or without hearing.
Pause transcription (dock button): you only listen, the text already shown stays on screen, and the screen may sleep. Handy to save battery on a long listen.
04 — Add a radio
Settings › Add a radio: paste the address of a direct audio stream (it usually ends in.mp3, .aac or .m3u8) and choose its spoken language. Web pages (YouTube, listening sites) are not streams. The app checks the address; you can add it anyway. You are responsible for the streams you add.
05 — Transcription errors
The transcript is produced by AI on your iPhone: it contains errors, especially on compressed streams, in noise, or with under-represented accents. The last sentence is refined live and then freezes — seeing it rewrite itself is normal. It is not an official source: for the exact version of a programme, refer to the broadcaster (“Official website” link in each station's info sheet).
If transcription stops (tunnel, network) the app restarts on its own; otherwise tap “Try again”. If nothing comes after 45 seconds on a talk station, it's often the language: see section 02.
06 — Your data
No data is collected. Favourites, custom streams and listening history (used only to sort your stations, clearable in Settings › Reading) stay on your iPhone. Details:privacy policy.
07 — Broadcasters
Radio Live Transcript is not affiliated with any broadcaster: the app plays public, unencrypted streams, unmodified, for accessibility purposes. If you represent a broadcaster and want a station removed, write to us — the station is removed as soon as possible, through an app update.
08 — Write to us
contact@klaroa.com — mention the station, your iPhone model, the iOS and app versions (Settings › About). We answer in French and English.
